Curbar Primary School replaced an earlier school, provided by the owners of Calver Mill between the mid-1830s and 1871. The earlier school was based in the school-house at Stocking Farm, next to the Mill. The building still exists (see picture on right). A short but very interesting history of the Stocking Farm school in Calver is available here.
